About Us
Promoting youth football through a safety first approach
- Great emphasis will be placed on the development of player’s personal character and behavior as part of the football program. Concepts of Commitment, Loyalty, Self-Improvement and Roles will be emphasized to ensure proper Discipline, Pride, and Mental Toughness.
- All programming will be educational-based to ensure the scaffolding of concepts so there is a complete learning (knowing and understanding) of football concept and skill. Players will not simply be asked to engage to engage, but will have a rationale for all programming and activity.
- Fundamental knowledge and skill (offensive, defensive concepts, strategy and associate physical movement) will be the emphasis of practice versus scheme to ensure that each player is able to operate both mentally and physically to protect themselves in football play.
- Effort will be prioritized above all other concepts to ensure players learn a relentless pursuit and tenacity to achieve immediate and long term team goals despite personal goals/views. This will ensure they never quit in the toughest moments on the field or in their lives.
Football
Eagles of El Segundo Youth Football while taking great pride in winning will conduct all programs as educational activities. Teaching football fundamentals (blocking & tackling), offensive and defensive strategy and the rationale for individual and team play will be stressed. We will provide a safe social and physical environment for our athletes. This obligates our program to provide well-trained and experienced coaches and local playing facilities.
We encourage good sportsmanship and good physical and mental health. ESYF will provide a platform for players to transition into higher level football. Younger players will have the opportunity to learn football while they try out other community sports programs. As the boys get older, increased commitment and preparation toward transitioning into the high school program will be emphasized.
Cheer
El Segundo Youth Cheer is a youth cheer program open to individuals of all ability levels who are ages 5-14. We cheer for the El Segundo Youth Football Team & we compete in local and national competitions.
ES Youth Cheer provides the younger athletes in the program the opportunity to learn the sport of cheerleading while they try out various other sports and community programs. As the athletes get older, there is an expectation of increased commitment.
We have three program goals:
- All of the athletes have fun, love cheerleading, and experience being part of a team.
- All of the athletes gain confidence performing in front of and leading a crowd.
- All of the athletes learn to perform the basic fundamentals of motions, jumps, and stunting successfully and increase their individual skills in each of those areas each season. Our older athletes build on the basic skills to perform more advanced jumps and stunts.
All coaches have completed YCADA safety courses, Heads Up Concussion Training, & Basic CPR/First Aid.
